All of the above photographs were taken in Jasper National Park, of Alberta, Canada. I spent one rainy day there after driving from Ohio on the way to Alaska. I loved the contrast of the miniature flora and fauna that grew in cracks and crevasses against the rocks and mountains.

Here is an excerpt from my journal about Jasper National Park:

"15 June 2006

"...We went to Maligne Canyon, impressive. We also went to Athabasca and Sunwapta Falls. There is so much more to see than the main attraction. A botanist would have a hay day. All kinds of pretty little flowers growing out of the sides of rock walls, at feet of trees. Lichen, moss, tiny ferns, fungus. So many colors! If I drove this far, just to see Jasper for one rainy day - completely worthwhile.
